Pictures!

Earlier today I promised pictures next time I blogged.   So, tonight I have pictures.  Pretty much everything I do for awhile will be for the Craft Show and these will be set aside for that.   But first I will frame them or at least mat them before I set aside.

The sock picture is a favorite and I have done similar ones before.  But I am thinking if it’s a favorite, others might want to buy it!  That’s how I see it anyway!  So I may do more.

That’s it for tonight!  ~ Julie

Moo cards . . .

Once again, no pictures and I apologize to all of you who look forward to seeing pictures of my work.  I promise next time, because I am working on something, it isn’t ready to show yet.

I wanted to share with you Moo cards, for anyone out there who isn’t familiar with them; I will try to describe them to you.  They are a mini business size card, 1 inch x 2 3/4 inch.  On one side you have your info and in my case it will read my name and email and blog address.  The other side will have a picture of my art work or something else I have done, such as a quilt.  I have wanted to order Moo cards for a few years now, but just didn’t feel I had enough pictures to submit for it.  You can have up to 100 pictures and they are distributed in equal amounts depending on how many you order; I ordered 100.  I wanted to have something to put with my work, they will come in plenty of time for the craft show I will be participating in.  When they arrive in the mail, I will take a picture and post it.  For anyone interested, Moo cards can be checked out on http://us.moo.com/.

Have a great day!

A Vest From 1970

In 1970, I was working a bit with suede and leather.  One of the things I made were vests, one for me (shown at left), one for my brother and then after I married, one for my husband.  All done by hand, using a leather hole punch and scissors and I didn’t use a pattern.  They were fitted.

I stopped working with leather when I began to have trouble finding it.   And I am posting this because I promised a friend that I would; she has also worked with leather.  So Cindy, here it is!

Button Flowers

One of the items I plan to sell at the craft show in November are button flowers.  These are so whimsical and they always make me smile to look at them.  I first got this idea from my very creative and artistic cousin and made them for a ladies luncheon as a party favor.  I worked on them for months, I had sore wrists and fingertips  and when all were done; there were about 120 button flowers, 40 little vases holding three and sometimes 4 button flowers.  They were a big hit at the luncheon.  So, once again, I am making button flowers, except so far, I can’t find those cute little vases, actually they were little bottles with a cork top.   But I am not done looking for them and I have lots of time and I only need about 8 I think.  I am making a lot less this time and though I have a lot of twisting of wire to do, I am off to a good start!

The end result.

A Card and more . . .

I made this card this morning, its for a gift which I can’t show you yet since the recipient hasn’t received it.   I hope I am not giving anything away by showing you the card.  I am anxious to show you the gift that goes with this card, but I will have to wait just a bit longer before I do.  The card reads: “Love is not a feeling, but a commitment.  Love is wonderful when shared.  Love gets better with age.  Love, Love, Love . . .  It’s all about Love!”

I have some news to share, in November, I will be participating in a craft show.  It’s my first ever!  I am excited but I have a lot of work to do before then.  Lots of aprons to make, button flowers to twist, pictures to draw and mount and a few to frame and I am not sure if I will add anything to this list, but if I do, you know I will post it on here when it’s done!

The sun is out, nice blue sky and a chill in the air.  Yes, autumn is very near indeed!  Have a great week and until next time, remember to have a little fun in your life!  🙂

A Tree I Drew While Waiting . . . yet again!

This morning I took someone to the doctor’s and waited in the car, yeah, again with the waiting!  I saw this tree that was kind of growing a bit unusual and drew it while waiting.  It was up against a building which I didn’t draw and I am sure it had some influence on it’s growing pattern.

I also put new batteries in my camera and I can see a difference in how it focused.  So, I retook yesterday’s picture and replaced it.

Waiting . . . . again!

This afternoon, my husband and I had to meet two school buses.  At 3pm, it was my granddaughter’s sister who is in middle school.  One hour later, it was my granddaughter’s turn to get off the bus.  In between the two buses, I got out my little drawing kit and inked!  It passed the time.  The house next door had an old mail box and lamp stand and a lot of bush, the kind that takes over everywhere.   So I drew the mail box and lamp stand and showed it to my husband and he says; “aren’t you going to draw the bushes and trees?”  So, I started drawing the greenery and since my granddaughter’s bus arrived, I never finished it.  We went to McDonald’s after they were picked up until their mother got home.

Since I seem to do a lot of waiting these days, I should have a category called waiting, I think I will add it.

Good night all and maybe I will see you tomorrow!

The Follow-up

I put this table on my “to-do” list yesterday and I just wanted to show you the “after” picture, looks much nicer today.  ♥   Have a great day everyone!

Doodles While Waiting and Organization

Let’s start with the need for organization.  When I don’t spend time at my work table, it tends to become a catch-all.  So looking at it this morning, instead of ignoring it once again, I decided to take a picture of it.  I guess to remind me that it really does need my attention.  It’s on my to-do list for this afternoon.

Yesterday, my husband got wood dust in his eye and had to have it looked at by a doctor.  Fortunately they found no damage and he should be fine in a few days.  So  while I was waiting for him at the doctor’s, I did some doodling.

This is what I keep in my pocketbook at all times.  It is almost a 5×7 plastic box that is about one and a quarter inch thick.  I keep two Micron black ink pens (01 & 005) and a small stack of paper I have cut to fit.  The surface of the little box  works as my table top and I can use it anywhere!  I really like having it handy, especially when I find myself with no interesting reading material while waiting.

Time out from “Spring” cleaning!

School starts tomorrow and today I started my “spring” cleaning, I know its really summer and that autumn is just around the corner; but to me, this is the best time to weed out the outdated and unused items and get into those nooks and crannies and clean.  I think it goes back to when my boys were in school and after a long hot and humid summer with no real structure to my schedule, it was a welcome time when school started and I could get to those things I couldn’t during summer vacation.  So the tradition continues on.

I haven’t gotten very far, but I did start and completed a closet.  So this evening while my husband tries out his new computer game he got from his oldest son for his birthday, I decided to pick up my pen and draw.  This is what I have so far, it’s not finished yet, I haven’t added water colors to it yet or did the third layer to it.  But I couldn’t blog without having a picture to show, so unfinished as it is, here is the visual.

And to my teacher friends and the children I know that are all going back to school tomorrow, have a good year and enjoy your first day back!
